Please can there be an option whereby when a new document is generated into a file column, it removes the old version? Some of our forms we use we need to continuously update which means we are manually deleting the old file for the new one to go in, I’d like it more of an option rather than a change as there is other times where I would like the old version to stay.
Hi Keeley,
thank you for the comment. ![]()
There’s actually a way to do this using monday automations. For example, you can use a button to generate the document using theDocuGen Generate integration, and then you can add a monday automation and use the same button (“when button is clicked”) to “Clear the column” (and here you select the relevant files column).
Now the trick with this setup is that it deletes all existing documents in the files column, not just the last one. I’ve recorded a video for better explanation.
Hopefully, you’ll find it useful. ![]()
There is a versioning functionality for files inside of Monday.com:

Currently if I create a document with DocuGen within an item and post it to a column and I repeat that process, there will be two or more files showing. This can be quite annoying (esp. when running multiple versions of a document with slightly changed and updated inputs).
In our logic we mostly need the LATEST doucugened document, ie we would like DocuGen to add the new document version on top of the previous one (at least allow the option within DocuGen settings).
So, if I create a doc for the second time and this option is ticked, the document would be added as a new version.
