Header in document template is duplicated when document is generated

I am creating a very simple board view template. I have added a document title above the table in the template. At first, I tried the Heading and Heading 2 formats in Word and the title only appears below the table when the document is generated. I changed the title to regular formatted text now the title appears before and after the table. Has anyone else encountered this and have a work around/fix to prevent this from happening?
